Larry Youngstedt
Chairman

After graduating from Kansas State University with a B.A. in Business Management Larry went to work for Standard Oil as a sales representative. While traveling the countryside and visiting stations, Larry was becoming intimately familiar with what it took to run a successful service station – and smitten with the idea of running his own one day.

In 1970 a Bloomington Amoco location became available, so Larry joined forces with a partner, quit working for Standard Oil and fulfilled the dream of running his own station. Only one year later, a Hopkins station was available which was much closer to home. Larry sold his share in the Bloomington station to his partner and bought the Hopkins station on his own.

In the thirty plus years that have followed, Larry has shepherded Team Youngstedt through high gas prices, high inflation, high interest and finally a booming economy. In that time, he’s been instrumental in expanding the company’s service centers to ten Goodyear stations in Minnesota and Wisconsin, one with a Mobil gas station, and a car wash in Chanhassen. Throughout his career, Larry has served on the Amoco National Advisory Committee and been recognized and nominated the business person of the year for his overall contribution in business and community involvement. Larry remains active in various community and church activities throughout the area and in Tonka Bay, where he and his first love, Barbara, live.

Steve Youngstedt
CEO

Steven Youngstedt graduated from the Minnesota School of Business with an Associate Degree in business. But his education in the family business started well before then. At the age of seven, young Steven could be seen hauling the trash at the Hopkins station. In the following years Steve would gain hands on experience in just about every facet of the service station business…from pump jockey to technician and on up the ladder to CEO. Steven’s knowledge of the business and his keen business acumen have been instrumental in the reorganization and growth of the company. Beyond helping to expand the number of stations, he has expanded the organizations technical system through aggressive IT link networking, which have dramatically improved the company’s day to day business processes. He also co-founded Vision 2000, a group of 20 automotive entrepreneurs who meet quarterly to discuss industry topics, share ideas and help one another on strategic and long range planning.

Steven and his wife Nancy have three young children live in Shorewood and remain very busy with sports activities, coaching and community involvement. Steve still finds time to pursue many hobbies, the first of which is his passion for flying.
